Improve the aesthetics of your smile with dental veneers
Dental veneers are very thin, custom-made shells that are added to the front of a tooth to mask its colour, shape, or positioning in the mouth. Once affixed, veneers appear natural-looking and perfectly complement facial features.
The two types of veneers are either porcelain or composite resin. The primary difference lies in the application, with porcelain veneers bonded to the tooth and composite veneers applied to the existing tooth, a layer at a time. The final outcome of veneers guarantees a realistic appearance.
Types of dental veneers
Porcelain veneers
Porcelain veneers are thin layers of custom handmade porcelain that are bonded to the facial surface of the tooth. They are natural, durable, and strong. Veneers appear and feel just like your teeth, with a translucency that mimics the true colours of natural teeth.
Veneers can last well over ten years and will resist staining over time. Porcelain veneers have helped people achieve the smile they have always dreamed of, giving them newfound confidence and a smile, they just can’t wait to show off.
Composite veneers
Cosmetic composite veneers can often be a fantastic affordable alternative to Porcelain veneers, providing a more affordable alternative. Cosmetic composite resin veneers can be used in low-stress situations and where minimal adjustments are required such as to correct minor staining, chipping or even crowding or crossed over teeth.
Cosmetic composite resins do not require as much tooth preparation as their porcelain counterparts and is a conservative choice. However, their strength and longevity are limited due to their minimal size and over time will chip and dull in appearance.

Typical treatment journey – Smile on Veneers
1. CONSULTATION
The experience and caring Smile On Clinics team will discuss your smile goals while educating and informing you of the necessary preparations and requirements that different treatments carry.
2. INDUCTION & CLEAN
The team will take a full set of diagnostic records so that you and your cosmetic dentistry practitioner can get a clear picture of your unique oral environment. By the end of this appointment, your dentist will be able to assess your suitability for porcelain veneers and tailor your treatment plan to achieve your smile goals. You will receive a professional clean to start your dental journey in a hygienic and healthy environment. At the end of this appointment your Smile On Clinic dentist will use your records to create your smile simulation.
3. SMILE SIMULATION
The team will have prepared a 3D simulation of your dream smile for you to try. This is an opportunity to try your new smile in your mouth without any irreversible procedures being performed. This is how we ensure that our porcelain veneers are perfectly tailored to your needs. The simulated smile will be removed at the end of the appointment. The fee for this service is deducted from the total cost of the treatment when the balance is due.
4. PREPARATION APPOINTMENT
Teeth are minimally reduced in size to make space for the porcelain veneers. The prepared teeth will then be cleaned, and 3D scanned so our ceramist can begin fabrication of the final product. For the two weeks that the veneers are being crafted, you will be provided with temporary veneers.
5. BONDING APPOINTMENT
Your Smile On Veneers are tried in and evaluated for fit and aesthetics. Once you and the Smile On team are 100% happy with your beautiful new smile, the veneers are chemically bonded in place. Within two hours, your new smile is complete!
6. REVIEW APPOINTMENT
Follow-up. Tissue healing is established, and final aesthetics are evaluated. Final photos will be taken and you will be given a protective mouthguard (nightguard/splint) to wear every night while sleeping to maximise the lifespan of your veneers and preserve your warranty. You must bring your splint with you to all subsequent appointments.

FAQs
How do dental veneers work?
A dental veneer is a super thin shell of porcelain, as thin as your fingernail. It is cemented on to your front tooth to improve the colour, shape and position of your teeth.
How long do veneers last?
Dental veneers are long-lasting and in general are expected to last 15 years before they might need some sort of attention.
Will veneers damage my teeth?
Veneers don’t damage your teeth, they actually help protect your teeth. They cover the front surfaces of your teeth so that nothing happens to the teeth. Neglecting your oral hygiene will damage your teeth, not veneers!
Does it hurt to get veneers?
Some patients don’t feel any discomfort at all after their dental veneers and some may feel either temperature sensitivity or pressure sensitivity, which are both minor and transient and can last up to 4 weeks. Any discomfort, however minor, tends to go away on its own without any intervention. If you’re in the dental chair for a long time, you can end up with jaw discomfort after veneers. Wrapping your jaw with a warm, moist towel after your dental appointment will help with the discomfort. Our caring team will guide you and help to make your experience as comfortable and pain free as possible.
Do you offer payment plans for veneers?
Yes we offer a range of payment plan options for veneer treatment, starting from $100 a week to allow you to get the smile you desire while minimising upfront payment.
Are porcelain veneers stain resistant?
Yes Porcelain veneers are stain resistant. Once they’re fitted in, their colour doesn’t change and doesn’t get affected by tea, coffee, wine and any other food that you’d expect to stain natural teeth. Stain resistance is one of the many pros of porcelain veneers. They are long-lasting and in general are expected to last 15 years before they might need some sort of attention.
Who is a good candidate for veneers?
Dental veneers are one of the most versatile cosmetic dental procedures because it fixes multiple cosmetic dental concerns at once. You’re a candidate for dental veneers if:
- you have crooked teeth and you would like your teeth straightened but you don’t want orthodontics or braces
- you’d like your smile whiter and brighter in colour. Teeth whitening may not have worked on you or you’re not a candidate for teeth whitening
- you feel your smile doesn’t suit your face
- you have one or multiple teeth that are mis-shaped or out of place
- you have large gaps between your front teeth
- you have some teeth are either too small or too big
- you have worn down, chipped or broken teeth
- fix a gummy smile
